Survival of the Fittest Good Enough

In a previous post, we discussed how "Survival of the Fittest" doesn't exactly make sense. We also discussed that evolutionarily the word “fitness” relates to an organism's ability to reproduce and survive its environment. This leads to today’s topic of “Survival of the Good Enough.”

In survival of the good enough, we are looking for the individual who makes it through, not how well they did. This allows for the exploration of how little an individual needs to do to reproduce and therefore relative fitness. I feel this is a better explanation for evolution than survival of the fittest.

  2. very creative , but i agree. using the term survival of the fittest does create the illusion that only the best animals are able survive and reproduce successfully. not taking into accounts natures natural events such as floods , fires , and isolation.
